Introduction Many of us are seen as bodies first: either too fat, too thin, too short, too tall, too different, acceptable, unacceptable, white or not white, gendered correctly or incorrectly. So much is written on our bodies. What's written on my body is a story of change and power, so much pain and hiding, so much negotiation and intention. I certainly don't hide anymore, and I still struggle with standing firmly in my body, steeling myself against everything that tells me I should hide. This is about being firm, clear and intentional, about making my own meaning. And it's how I survive.
