Introduction	I was raised in the country and have made my way to small town living. I have started my family on a journey for a more independent lifestyle. We currently live in Central Iowa, therefore, have cold winters and warm summers. Some of our journey includes growing a variety of produce, raising chickens, baking and cooking instead of buying prepackaged, making our own cleaners, sewing, and generally trying to spend and consume less. We try to eat organic when possible. We belong to a natural food co-op and are able to get many items in bulk which helps on the expenses. We use the motto: reuse and recycle items when possible. This blog entails our journey.
