Why does the color blue mean raspberry-flavored?
The raspberry flavor people realized they could in no way compete with Strawberry or Cherry as things were. They did a few focus groups and found children ages 9-14 associated the color blue most with feelings of "edginess, rebellion," and when their candies were colored blue they were 48% more likely to be described as "A tooth-rotting joyride" than a "Ho-hum empty calorie."
