| Introduction | I'm an "old guy" who is trying to re-learn how to ride long distances as my new hobby. I was impressed with a presentation I saw in the winter of 2014 and started riding my old road bike shortly afterward. I joined the local club and rode in a few 'charity' rides that summer and then continued training until I was able to ride in RAGBRAI in the summer of 2015!! And now I've ridden across FIVE states and 1/3 of California ! ! !! I'm originally from Textile Town, SC and graduated from Clemson in 1981 with a degree in Engineering. I have worked for a few utilities over the years and always enjoyed it. I am writing this so that I can share the processes I went through as I prepared for the RAGBRAI ride and beyond...
