| Introduction | I was a k-3 classroom teacher for 10 years. I then received my Masters in Reading and became a credentialed reading specialist and interventionist. In 2022, I successfully defended my dissertation titled, "Teacher Knowledge and Beliefs Regarding Sight Word Development". My research focuses on bridging the latest neuroeducational findings with classroom literacy instruction, specifically in k-2 preventative reading and spelling approaches. With a long-standing interest in equitable opportunities for Title 1 schools and Emergent Bilingual students, my vision is to disrupt the nation's reading failure status-quo through evidence-validated practices so that far more students are on the path to becoming skilled readers from the very first day of Kindergarten. I currently serve as a private remediation specialist for clients of all ages and varying learning disabilities (to include dyslexia) using EBLI speech to print approaches. |
