| Introduction | Tom Elliott is a native of Charleston, South Carolina and graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music in 1976. He is the founder and former director of the Westminster Brass. He has performed as trombonist with many ensembles including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Metropolitan Opera and the Marlboro Music Festival. Mr. Elliott has performed jazz and commercial music with notables such as Mel Tormey and the Glenn Miller Band. He was resident orchestra member at the former Valley Forge Music Fair and performed as a freelance musician throughout the Delaware Valley. As a full-time music educator, Mr. Elliott has been Director of Instrumental Music at Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, PA since 1989. He developed a program that introduces young children to classical music by means of a cartoon character called Maestro the Lion. This program through children’s literature and standard orchestral repertoire has influenced thousands of young students. Married to Popeng since 1978 where they reside in Narberth, PA with their dog Pogi. Tom is a ruling elder at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. |
