Introduction I’m a scientific generalist with advanced degrees in both engineering and psychology. I’m also an experienced naturalist. My blog will take the same broad, inclusive perspective that I tried to bring to my book. The idea is to be interdisciplinary, integrating information across different areas to make sense of everything. Many years ago, John Brunner wrote about this activity in his scifi classic Stand on Zanzibar, calling his hero a "synthesist." I thought when I read it how cool that job sounded. I was right . . .
Favorite Books Professional Summary: Biopsychologist Susan Schneider obtained her graduate education from Brown University (mechanical engineering) and the University of Kansas, and her multifaceted career includes a stint in the Peace Corps. Highlights of her academic career include teaching the science of consequences to Ph.D. students at Auburn University, being Associate Director of the Developmental Psychobiology laboratory at Florida International University, and getting to New Zealand as a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Auckland. She has published numerous research and theoretical articles and book chapters, and taught over a dozen different psychology courses. She began the extensive research for her book in 2001, and it was published in November 2012.
