| Introduction | Tulta is not a common name. I have been told that in Finnish it means 'fire'; there is a Finnish Christian rock band with a song of the same name. In Arabic it sounds something like the word for strawberry, aparrently. However, I am named for a figure from Shetland mythology, the name deriving from the Norn word for 'a crested and rolling sea'. So I've heard. I like to think I somehow inherited the spirit of my mythological forebear - a sea-witch who spent her days dashing sailors upon the rocks - but in reality I have less of the tempest in me. Generally I make do pottering around Edinburgh planning my escape. I studied Fine Art and now try (unsuccessfully) to make my own work and avoid working in galleries. |
