| Introduction | Born in 1964, Laura grew up in Indiana. She spent her childhood surrounded by six brothers and developed a love for reading books. Her first career aspiration was to be an author. Moving to central Texas in the mid 1980's, she quickly became a Dallas Cowboys fan and is proud to call herself a Cowboys fanatic. Suffering from depression for as long as she can remember, Laura was finally correctly diagnosed with bipolar 2 and generalized anxiety disorders in 2007. She was also diagnosed with PTSD in 2014. Today, she is a single mother of two boys. They are the most important people in her life and her biggest supporters. Laura blogs about mental illness with a focus on her experiences and opinion, bipolar education, advocacy against stigma, and needed changes in mental health law. She believes balance is important in looking at all aspects of mental illness and endeavors not to see issues in black and white. Laura also believes humor goes a long way in managing her mental illness. Laura still spends her free time reading and writing, and lives for the NFL season. She will be the first to tell you she is always accepting donations towards Cowboys season tickets! |
