Introduction Once a WNBA hopeful and powerhouse of the University of Pittsburgh’s Lady Panther basketball team in the late 90’s, I averaged 16 points a game, was strong, agile, living the fast paced life of a successful college athlete, and in my mind invincible until I lost my balance one morning before basketball practice. I learned later that evening that I had suffered and survived a stroke at the age of 22. After a miraculous recovery, I resurfaced still strong but with redirected career plans and a refocused life which has led me to found and lead Young Stroke Survivors, an organization dedicated to supporting stroke survivors under the age of 50 with regaining and maintaining the life balance necessary to lead a healthy and productive life post-stroke. My autobiography, The Heart of a Panther is the story of my route to recovery.
