Introduction Terry McConnell is the best-selling co-author of the book I’d Trade Him Again: On Gretzky, Politics and the Pursuit of the Perfect Deal, about the former owner of the Edmonton Oilers, Peter Pocklington. It was published in hard cover by Key Porter Books in 2009 and in paperback the following year. Terry was a columnist and editorial writer for the Edmonton Journal for 12 years and in that time became one of that city’s most widely read journalists. Born in Ingersoll, Ontario, near London, Terry studied journalism at Mohawk College in Hamilton, then landed his first job as a sportswriter in suburban Dundas in 1973. He eventually returned to the family business in Tilbury, near Windsor, and later purchased his family’s two newspapers, the Tilbury Times and the North Essex News in Belle River, and launched a third, Shoreline Week, in nearby St. Clair Beach. His newspapers won more than 100 awards for newspaper excellence, and Terry was also recognized for his editorial and column writing and for community initiatives. Today, Terry lives in Palm Springs, where he works as a communications consultant and biographer.
