| Introduction | A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... [wait, that's not right. Let me try that again!] Circa 2014 in Crofton, MD... [this is sounding more familiar] ... I decided it was time for a change. I had been teaching in the same district for 9 years and needed a change of scenery. A few options lay before me. I could apply to a teach in a different district, devote myself completely to the lost art of horse whispering, or go back to school. I figured that if there was ever going to be a time when going back to school full time was a feasible option, it was at that very point in my life. I owned no property, had no dependents, and was fairly mobile. So I started applying to Ph.D. programs. I ended up being granted an interview at Temple University and, along with admission into the program, they offered me a full assistantship. Score! And here I am. A full-time student for the first time in 10 years. What follows here is an account of my adventures and a log of my musings. May some scholar, generations from now, learn something useful from what lies within! |
