Introduction	After 7 years in Arizona, I had completed undergrad, worked professionally on exciting new projects for the university, become part of a network of human rights activism and politics, developed amazing friendships, and discovered my voice. In 2006, I returned to my hometown of Washington,DC. It took some adjusting to but soon I had created a new life for myself, reconnected with family, formed bonds with new and old friends, and developed strong relationships with new coworkers and skills in a new work environment. Little did I know that 2 years later I would be living in a medium-sized town nestled near the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts of Turkey.
