About me

Introduction Homesĭtē (pronounced Home-site or Home-city), is a Public Participatory Art Project by artists Joyce Dallal and Lauren M. Kasmer, conceived of in 1990 and funded in part by a Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Grant. It is a continuously evolving multifaceted art installation that creates a collective statement exploring ideas of home in relation to the city of Los Angeles. The piece provided a framework for residents of the city to add their own perspective by contributing to it in the form of stories, statements, visual items, and small tableaus. Homesĭtē, the multi-faceted art installation, was exhibited county-wide, continuously evolving until 1998. In anticipation of Homesĭtē’s 20th anniversary and  the inclusion of the historical artwork in the “Actions,  Conversations, and Intersections” exhibition, at the  Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall from  January 28 - April 18, 2010, two new public participa-  tory projects expand this artpiece.
