Introduction I'm an entrepreneur and pursuer of domestic joy and tranquility. I am happiest and most productive when I'm creating something, whether it's an artistic endeavor, another DIY home improvement project, an experimental recipe, a new business venture, a poem, or a fresh blog entry. I also enjoy some freelance work, writing and editing. I love proofreading and editing because it comes naturally to me. Yes, I’m one of those folks who needs that t-shirt that warns, “I’m silently correcting your grammar.”
Interests Home Improvement Projects, Decorating, Writing, Politics, Law, Philosophy, Cooking (and eating!), Photography, Upcycling, Reading, Finding new reasons to take college courses (even though I already hold an AS, an AA and a BA.) MOST of all, I love spending time with my recently retired husband - even after nearly 35 years of marriage.
Favorite Books I'll start with my short list -- works of non-fiction: "Outliers" and anything else written by Malcolm Gladwell, one of the great thinkers of our time. "The Thirteen American Arguments" (Howard Fineman) "Political Thinking: The Perennial Questions" (Glenn Tinder) "Bushworld: Enter at Your Own Risk" (Maureen Dowd) "Law, Darwinism, and Public Education" (Francis Beckwith) "Understanding the Constitution: Ten Things Every Christian Should Know" (David Gibbs, Jr. & David Gibbs III) Most of my favorite books are fiction -- I love to "escape" into worlds created by others. My all-time favorite work of fiction is actually based in reality. "ISHMAEL: An Adventure of the Mind and Spririt." If you haven't read it, you should. EVERYONE should. Other faves: Homer's "The Iliad" which I expected to be a "dull classic" but it's like a soap opera directed by Stephen King! Speaking of Stephen King, I adored "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" and "Insomnia" was a great ride that made me sob like a kid at the end. Stephen Donaldson's duo, "Mirror of Her Dreams" and "A Man Rides Through It" were the most engrossing page-turners I've ever read. "She's Come Undone" (Wally Lamb) had me convinced that a woman had written it under a pseudonym until I saw him on television. I'm still amazed that a man can have that kind of insight into the female psyche. Alice Sebold's hit, "The Lovely Bones" forever changed the way I think about things I find on the ground. Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale" scared me because such a future is all too possible. I also enjoy books about language... about word and phrase origins, cultural meanings, etc. Do you know why bank clerks are called "tellers"? If you don't, email me a nice note and I'll tell you. :) I like poetry, too -- reading it and writing it.

Describe the sound of a moist waffle falling onto a hot griddle.

Silly question! Waffles don't fall onto hot griddles... they are poured into waffle irons, with a steamy little whisper of a hiss.
