| Introduction | As an Irish musician, living in New York City and currently living in the Mid-Hudson Valley, I love to play in the Tri-State area Sessiuns and Festivals. I have been playing music since I was a child, in one way or another. Although, I went away from it (rock/roll ) for a long time, I went back in earnest by taking up the Flute in the 90's. At that time, I was fortunate in that, I became a student of the legendary, Jack Coen,a Galway native, living in the Bronx. Jack was an exponent of the Galway traditional style. As a second generation Flute player, my father, Johnny McAuliffe was a well-known Flute player living in the Bronx and he played with the likes of Dennis Murphy, Mike Preston, Paddy Murphy and of course, Jack and too many more to mention. There was always plenty of the pure tradition around and I'm grateful for that. I've been very lucky to have known and played with some of the best in Traditional Irish Music. |
