| Introduction | I take things apart. It's what I do. I do it just for fun, and sometimes I buy something just so I can take it apart. Once my curosity is satisfied I occasionally put it back together. Usually it works, sometimes it works better, and often I have a few parts left over. I also research things just for fun. The subjects of my curosity are many and varied, but usually I pursue topics on history, physics, electronics, and mechanics. I particularly like studying the history of scientific advancement. Every now and then I'll get a wild hair and create a project for myself just to see if I can do it. I'll either design and build everything from basic electrical circuits up, or I'll use off-the-shelf components and assemble them together in ways for which they were clearly not designed. I have a decent safety record. I'm pretty good at identifying what might cause injury and mitigating it, but I've still been burned, cut, shocked, and temporarily incapacitated during some of my projects. I'm probably not the best teacher for doing what I do. That's why this journal is intended to be nothing more than a record of my projects and not a guide for others. |
