| Introduction | I am a poet and author; a wife, mom, and grandma to seven amazing grandchildren; a recorded Friends minister; and, at long last, a senior citizen. I’ve been a follower of Jesus for most of my life. My husband and I worked in Latin America for around 40 years as “Friends Serving Abroad” (formerly known as missionaries). Currently we live in a faith-based continuing-care retirement community in Oregon. One of my purposes in writing this blog is to explore ways to grow older with courage and humor. Many of these blogs reflect life in the retirement community. When I mention my marvelous and funny companions, I sometimes change their names (although most of them wouldn’t mind being known). |
