Favorite moviesAm not a movie buff and mostly am dragged to movie halls like a dog to the bath. However, Annie Hall and The Big Chill would be among my favourites.
Favorite musicAh hah, now we're talking, Jazz, Rock, W. Classical for starters and several other genres along the way. Favourite works include: Pat Metheny's albums Offramp, Secret Story, Still Life Talking and First Circle, Miles Davis' Kind OF Blue and In A Silent Way, Keith Jarrett's Koln Concert, Pink Floyd's Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, Obscured By Clouds and The Wall, The Beatles albums post rubber Soul i.e. Revolver, Sgt. Peppers, The white album, Abbey Road and Let It Be, The Rolling Stones' Beggars Banquet, Sticky Fingers and the bone grooving and soul crushing Exile on Main St., U2 - The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, Johann Sebastian Bach's numerous and varied pieces from his Air on a G-string to Sheep may safely graze, Chopin's Nocturnes, Glazunov's Piano Concerto in B and Rachmaninovs piano concertos as well as his spine chilling Isle of the Dead...the list is....endless
Favorite booksCrime and Punishment, The Idiot, The Brothers Karamazov and Notes from a Dead House by Dostoyevsky. Of Human Bondage (which an ex colleague of mine thought was a porn film), The Razor's Edge, Cakes and Ale, The Narrow Corner, The Painted Veil and the short stories of Somerset Maugham. The Buddha of Suburbia, The Black Album, Intimacy and Gabriel's Gift by Hanif Kureishi. A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. The Wilt series especially and all other books by Tom Sharpe. The Lord of the Rings (which another old friend of mind thought was a biography of a great boxer) by Tolkien. Immortality and The Art of the Novel by Kundera. Civilization & Its Discontents, The Question of a Weltanschauung, The Future of an Illusion by Freud. The Conquest of Happiness, Why I Am Not A Christian and several other essays by the indomitable Bertrand Russell. Jeeves, Mulliner, Emsworth, Psmith and other series by that febrile-y funny man PGW.
