Introduction	Birder, bartender and generally affable heathen. I got the birding "bug" one icy winter morning in the Missouri ozarks. While fishing for trout, an adult Bald Eagle flew directly overhead, looked right at me and pretty much changed my life. As a result, I began birding in my native southeast MO, moving to the Kansas City area a few years later. I have done two "Big Years" in Missouri, reaching 304 species seen in 2005 and 307 in 2008. I am especially proud of my 2008 Big Year, as all 307 species were "found" by me (no "chasing"!), including a first MO state record Mew Gull and a second MO state record Curlew Sandpiper. Now trying to negotiate the "post-listing" phase of my hobby, my avian interests include gulls, terns, shorebirds and the inevitable forays into the study of molt.
