IntroductionSince childhood, I have been singing, playing, and performing. I graduated from Sibelius Academy (University of The Arts in Helsinki) 1992 as a flute and music teacher. I continued my classical singing studies in New York, USA, and debuted on great stages like the Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center (Washington D.C.). Ten years went by happily before returning to Finland. I co-founded the Kokkola Opera organization in 2004 with soprano Anu Komsi and conductor Sakari Oramo and performed as a soloist in almost all productions until 2016. We commissioned three new operas, received many awards, and learned about running a festival. Fantastic and challenging times. I also served as Managing Director of Schauman Hall in Jakobstad, Finland, 2013-2016, developing the new concert hall's operations, programming, and processes. I moved closer to home to Centria University of Applied Sciences in Kokkola and started as Head of Music Pedagogy Program in 2018. My time is divided between administrative tasks, projects, teaching classical singing, and artistic work. In January 2021, I embarked on part-time doctoral studies at the University of Jyvaskyla.
