About me

Location Raleigh, NC, United States
Introduction I was raised in a household that believed in tasting everything that was put in front of you - none of this "if you don't want it, I'll make you a peanut butter sandwich", stuff that parents nowadays are into. My mother is a first generation Estonian-American. My father's heritage is a bit more questionable - maybe Austrian, maybe Polish - Grandpa can't make up his mind. His mother was Swedish. That being said, we had some interesting food when I was growing up. Scandinavian, Swedish, Polish, American. Add that to the fact that I had a variety of au pairs from Holland, France & Sweden & that my parents loved to travel, cook & host dinner parties. By the age of 14, I had a working knowledge of Beef Wellington, caviar, pâté and crème brûlée. I enjoy traveling & trying the different specialties in every country and region that I visit. Oh, & I've probably eaten more Foie Gras in 2 months than most people have in their entire lives. (Yes, I know how awful Foie Gras is & how it's made, so please don't bother telling me about it. I was in France at the time, & "had" to eat it every time to be polite. Well, it would have been a waste to not eat it once it was served to me, right?)

How do you pronounce the 'g' in bologna?

Well, that all depends on if you're talking about the lunch meat, or the region in Italy...
