Introduction Lauri Lebo has been a reporter for 20 years. She has reported on everything from a Civil War re-enactor shot during a recreation of Pickett's Charge to a man arrested for sex with a sheep. In 2000, as part of a team of reporters investigating two unsolved Civil Rights-era murders, she helped unravel the accepted history of her town. In 2004, as the education reporter for the York Daily Record, she was the lead reporter covering intelligent design's First Amendment battle. The case of Kitzmiller v. Dover challenged her beliefs in "fair and balanced" journalism and led to her first book, The Devil in Dover, published by The New Press. She is currently working on her second book, traveling around the country, revisiting the people and places that first captured Ernie Pyle's interest. She continues to write about the state of journalism, the debate between religion and science and the clash of this nationā€˜s culture wars.
