| Introduction | Started by Vickie Waite in January 1995, The Sun Runner Magazine, The Magazine of the Real California Desert, is distributed from El Centro and Borrego Springs to the south, through the Coachella Valley/Palm Springs area, the hi-desert/Joshua Tree area, and north through the Mojave Desert to Death Valley and Ridgecrest, as well as to visitor centers and high-traffic locations from Lone Pine to Bakersfield, Orange County to Oceanside. The Sun Runner Magazine covers desert culture, history, personalities, and issues. Steve Brown took over the magazine on June 1, 2004, and has increased readership to more than 36,000 per issue. In addition to a bi-monthly print edition, the magazine also produces the Sun Blast, a weekly e-mail newsletter, the website, www.thesunrunner.com, and a weekly radio show on KX96 FM. A value-oriented website, www.DesertFunCoupons.com, was launched in summer, 2009. This blog contains stories from the print editions of the magazine and from the Sun Blast, as well as ongoing desert-related commentary and opinion. We hope you enjoy it! |
