Introduction Like pieces in a patchwork quilt, the skills and knowledge Velia has acquired over the years have come together to make her the warm and gentle person that she is today. While Velia was honing her sewing skills as a child, her mother, Candelaria, would create beautiful quilts for her large and growing family. Velia felt the pull to learn more about the delicate art of quilting, so she would spend hours surrounded by fabrics and quilt batting with her mother. Since that time, she has been able to share passion of sewing by teaching quilt construction at WCCCD. For years has worked with WWCQG, many museums appraising quilts and lecturing on textiles. MSU invited her to speak on Texas quilts. She has a broad quilt collection and supplies for 100 years for workshops. note taken from Lenawee School District instructors page.
