IntroductionI'm just an old hippie who keeps it simple as possible and try to live my life half in dark and half in light, glancing over my shoulder every so often to see if I've missed any opportunities to alienate friends, co-workers and family by my inherently stubborn and bent soul that has been shaped by events and people throughout my life. A selfish and careless excercise I admit, but mostly involuntary and unintentional antisocial behavior that I always will regret wearing like a comfortably worn pair of jeans. Just so. InterestsI love to be outdoors especially near water (I'm an Aquarius!). Love to fish, shoot targets, play horseshoes, go camping, rock hounding and geocache exploration. Love to learn new things on a wide variety of subjects and keep up with the latest technology concerning my job like robotics, CNCs and electronics in general. Love to shoot pool, throw darts, play trivia games and poker (Texas Holdem rules!)
Favorite moviesMost big budget sci-fi movies that have high production values, with stunning high definition/ high density sub field motion sequences that jolts my parasympathetic nerves like the vamp v werewolves serial New Moon or the Transformers movies and stuff like that. The only downside to me watching these movies is that I tend to pay more attention to the technical and production values (like trying to figure out if the scene sequence is cgi or just flat out kick ass James Cameron 101 real life action). I have to watch the movie a second time to enjoy the storyline!!
Favorite musicAnything that will make me tap my feet and move my body. If it's got deep bass and crunchy dirty chords and lyrics about something that resonates to my own experiences--I will listen to it. Lately, a band by the name of 10 Years has my devotion, (gonna see them tomorrow at Verison Wireless Amphitheater here in Stl) I also listen to or have gone to see-- Puddle of Mudd, 30 Seconds to Mars, 3"0f Blood, Magnacult, Killswitch Engage, System of a Down, Foo Fighters, FlyLeaf, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Korn, Godsmack, Seether, Deftones, Sevendust and Staind. Sometimes I like to change up to old school and listen to Montrose as Sammy Hagar tells his wench that she's rock candy (so hard sweet and sticky) or that he wants her to get on her bad motor scooter and ride, or my all time favorite Montrose tune Space Station #5.(Start with the sun, move on out, the future's in the sky above...),
Favorite booksThe last literary work of any signifigance that I've read is Henry David Thoreau's "Walden; or Life in the Woods" (1854). It's a rambling 18 chapter essay about his transcendental philosophy on society as a whole. I read it in late 2002 when I had a spell of time to read a book cover to cover in a semi continuous manner. I like to revisit bodies of work that lift my spirits or reset my underlying confidence in our national discourse from time to time and read the Preamble to the Declaration of Indepenence, th Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America. I also indulge in guilty pleasures sometimes and read Tom Clancy and David Grisham novels. Other than that, the only books I read are technical articles in trade magazines and tech manuals for the machinery I troubleshoot, repair and maintain.
