| Introduction | As the late Sir Edmund Hillary said: "You don’t have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things – to compete. You can be just an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated" I class myself as an ordinary chap, but motivated by the incredible challenge that the MdS presents, and the opportunity to raise a significant amount of money for a very worthwhile cause. I certainly class myself as an 'ordinary' runner, no points for style or speed, but I have developed a certain tendency towards endurance and sometimes still surprise myself! Long may that continue through this journey towards March 2009. The thought of the MdS fills me with excitement and fear in equal measures, hopefully as my training progresses the element of fear will subside to a manageable level! This event demands a healthy amount of respect, and this blog will record my endeavours to prepare mind, body and soul (at the expense of bank balance). I'm aiming to raise at least £5000 for the Alzheimer's Society, so please visit my fundraising page (see links below) and give generously! |
