Introduction I'm an amateur entomologist with a special interest in working towards a phylogeny-based taxonomy in Australian Lepidoptera. I live in south-east Queensland, near Imbil, a small town with forestry and cattle connections. Our property is a 5-acre block of former farmland which we are regenerating as mixed sclerophyll and rainforest bushland. I collect moths using a UV light on my verandah, which is set among Eucalyptus sideroxylon (Black Ironbark) and E. acmenoides (White Mahogany) trees. A dry grassy slope leads down to a disused farm dam with reed beds and water lilies. Moths with aquatic larvae are frequent visitors and it was their amazing beauty first aroused my interest in moths.
