Do you believe that forks are evolved from spoons?
They evolved separately and independently. The fork evolved alongside the steak knife, forming a symbiotic relationship whereby meat was held in place for cutting and stabbing, saving labor for both. Previously skewers would have filled the fork's niche, meat would just spin around the skewer when one pushed with the knife. More interesting to me is the independent evolution of the chopstick.
