About me

Location Essex Junction, Vermont
Introduction During the course of his relatively short life, Michael has been,in a rough chronological order: a college student, a military police black market & customs investigator/German linguist, an MFA Theatre graduate, a staffer for Hubert Humphrey, a high school & college theatre instructor, an actor in movies and plays, a telephone sales rep for magazines, a lobbyist for several different trade associations in Washington D.C. and state governments (including Vermont) a bookstore owner, a cross country & running & track coach, and now a bookstore owner...again! He also experienced the occasional bout of unemployment between these diverse careers. Michael has appeared in over 40 plays and 10 films and his work can be referenced on the world wide web. You can also find many of his race times in road races across America and around the world. He has been married, fathered two daughters, and been married again. Please feel free to ask Michael about this information, but beware, he has been known to hold forth for lengthy discussions and noisy diatribes against the status quo.
Interests His favorite activity is running and his favorite hobby is creating a modern Japanese style garden in his backyard. He adores his daughters, his wife, his tree peonies, and his Asiatic lilies. He particularly detests lily leaf beetles and Japanese beetles. According to some he watches to many old movies on TV.
Favorite Books Michael enjoys reading science fiction, mystery, history and poetry. His favorite book, the one he would like to be stranded on a desert island with, would be Lord of the Rings...if The Hobbit was included. He also admires the work of Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein and Pohl Anderson. Tony Hillerman, Dashiell Hammett and other hard boiled detective writers find space on his book shelf, along with esoteric books on heart rate monitor training and improving lactate threshold. His favorite poets are Gregory Corso, Louise Gluck, Basho, Buson, Daniel Lusk, Angela Patten, Elizabeth Lowell and Marianne Moore, with kudos to Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliott. In his youth he was fond of Hemingway, Sinclair Lewis, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. He is particularly indebted to Henry Miller for helping to guide the way to adulthood. He also admires Chekhov, Shaw, Albee, Williams, and Pinter.
