He started writing at 19 (with a ghazal) and has written various forms of literature since then. He earned his master's degree in urdu language & literature in 1975 and has over 19 books (poetry, short stories, sketches, memoirs, Light essays & criticisms) published all over Pakistan & India. He is widely known for introducing the actual form of a punjabi folk poetry called MAHIA. At present, he is also publishing and editing a literary journal called Jadeed Adab (Modern Literature) from Germany which is being published in both hard copy and electronic formats at www.jadeedadab.com.
