| Introduction | Born Chavakachcheri, Jaffna , Ceylon ( Lanka) 11 April 1934. Primary education Seremban, Malaysia 1941-45. Returned Ceylon April 1946. Secondary education Jaffna College. Graduated University of Ceylon 1959. Taught Modern History, Politics and International Relations - Undergraduate Department of Jaffna College 1959 -69, University of Colombo 1970 -78, University of Jaffna 1979-83. 1983 to 2000 was initially Japan Foundation Fellow attached to the Institute for the Study of the Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa, at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, later Tokyo Women’s' Christian University and the International Christian University, Mitaka, Tokyo as a research associate. Taught at the Meiji Gakuin University in Tokyo and Yokohama Campuses, Sophia University Community College, Keisen University, Aoyama Gakuin Junior College, Wako University and the International School of the Sacred Heart at different periods 1983 to 2000. Invited to lecture in the Faculty of Arts in the University of Tokyo to undergraduate and post-graduate students on Nationalism, Ethnic Conflict and Peace-Making in South Asia with special reference to Lanka. Returned to Lanka in June 2000 |
