Introduction | I am an accomplished blind information technology professional with over ten years of experience in several computer fields including accessibility, customer service, networking, technical support and training. Since I am almost totally blind, I rely on a screen reader to use computers. The JAWS (Job Access With Speech) screen reading software developed by Freedom Scientific enables me to enjoy computer technology on the job, in the classroom and at home by providing the same information available on the computer's screen in Braille and speech output. My mission in life is to enable my fellow blind brothers and sisters to enjoy a high standard of living through the education, employment and business ownership opportunities afforded by access to the information contained in the world around us. This need for accessibility takes many forms about which you will learn in the pages of this blog. If you want to learn something about me, read Lois McMaster Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan book series. Vorkosigan is a space mercenary with a disability who really fights for justice. I also aspire to visit outer space at least once. |
