| Introduction | The college application process is markedly different from when my husband and I made our applications 25 years ago. Good grades, good test scores, and an interview without any embarrassing mishaps and you were pretty much in. When my husband applied early decision to MIT, he sat down in his high school guidance counselor’s office and filled out the application right then and there. And he got in. Despite his counselor advising him not to bother applying. My road to Wellesley was more circuitous, but trust to say that what passed muster then would likely not now. Not by a long shot. The purpose of this blog is to help reign in my tendency to “stage mom” my son's every move. It is his journey, not mine. And it will serve all in my family well if I can keep that top of mind these next 10 months. If our experiences can provide other parents with some insight and information about how the whole college app process works, then so much the better. |
