The Y Label
My blogs
| Introduction | The Y Label's creator and chief designer is Yaviz Basalamah, an Indonesian visual artist most known for his paintings and artistic flair. Yaviz has been especially fascinated by the creative evolution of fashion in his art, an interest that eventually inspired him to establish The Y Label. The label kick started in 2011 with a collection of long and short sleeve shirts for men made from fine jacquard fabric featuring elegant patterns that are a blend of ethnic and contemporary designs. The label later launched a collection of colourful neckties and bow ties made from the same signature jacquard fabric used for the shirts. Still working with traditional materials, the following collection coming from the label uses a colourful combination of plain and patterned Indonesian fabric called ikat. Yaviz truly enjoys the concept of working with traditional materials while at the same time giving them a strong international appeal. The Y Label now produces men's and women's shirts, but Yaviz is still open to the possibility of producing other menswear and womenswear items in the future. |
