| Introduction | I thought I'd put the notion of vocational ministry behind me in my twenties, only to find myself suddenly a senior pastor's wife at the start of my forties. Even though my husband hadn't been seeking a career change, he decided to leave his secure high school principaI job in 2013 for this new gig, simply because he was asked. I guess calling will always trump everything else. Now I'm significantly older, slightly wiser, and much less naive. Although I have my own career directing a small human service program, I'm now a pastor's wife, too, which inevitably comes with a set of stereotypes I don't particularly fit. I'm walking into this adventure trusting that God can bless others through my plain old quirky self. My guilty pleasures include all-you-can-eat sushi buffets, dirt-cheap bargain shopping, dystopian YA novels, and celebrity gossip. |
