Introduction | I studied graphics and photography at Brighton College of Art, but left before completing a degree. Having been a passionate knitter since childhood I decided to start my own business designing and selling children's knitwear in a tiny shop in Brighton, so in 1981 Kangaroo (woolly jumpers!) was born. The business evolved over the years to become a yarn shop, then finally a busy internet business. I sold Kangaroo in 2011 and have started two new businesses - 'Knitting Holidays in France', hosting relaxing knitting and crochet retreats and workshops and 'KnitKits' a website selling knitting and crochet kits and wooden and woollen gifts. I also work as a freelance pattern editor for Knitting magazine and a translator for Bergere de France. I have written four books on knitting, 'The Knitting Stitch and Motif Directory', 'Techno Cozies', 'Vintage KnitKnacks' and 'Knits of Tomorrow' ('Techknits'). I live in South West France with my architect husband Culli and two Golden Retriever's Be Bop & Buddy and have two step-children Amy and Ross and four grand-children Eliza, Poppy, Martha and Art. |
