Introduction My father demonstrated some knowledge about gardening and a library of plants he fancied. Even so, my real introduction to gardening came about when I began tinkering with the fertile Virginia soil outside of my first home. Swoon! In containers I collected some of my favorite plants. I've threatened to start a vegetable garden before, but never did get around to it. My husband made the first move by preparing a space for a vegetable garden that would soon steal my heart. I fell more in love with the resident garden spiders and other beneficial insects. Each day, I ventured out to discover fresh growth, budding flowers and infant vegetables. As summer turned in to fall I found myself prematurely mourning the loss of my summer garden. I talked about greenhouses quite a bit but it was mostly just talk. Before I knew it, my husband surprised me with the means to get through those impending winter months, and a greenhouse was erected. :) Oh the possibilities, there is still so much to learn! Which brings us to why I'm here...I don't have any local gardening buddies to have my obsessive exchanges with; perhaps I'll find some!
Interests Edible Gardening, Greenhouse happenings, Edible Herbs

Has anyone ever grown preying mantids in their greenhouse? I'm afraid they won't have enough to eat, in fact I'm quite certain they'll end up eating one another.
