| Introduction | So, what is a lawyer to do in his spare time? Write about the Civil War, of course! This blog takes an in-depth look at Civil War history and sites in the Washington, DC metro area, with a particular focus on Northern Virginia. I also explore Civil War-related aspects of other topics from time to time, including antique books and newspapers, preservation, and tourist attractions farther afield. I am originally from the Pittsburgh area and moved to Washington, DC for college. I have lived in Northern Virginia and DC for nearly twenty years, so I suppose that gives me "native" status! I was an attorney for ten years, mostly at big firms, and now work in trade policy. Throughout my entire life, I've been fascinated by the Civil War and have embraced the opportunities offered by the internet to share my research and thoughts related to the conflict. |
