| Introduction | I have an addiction. It’s not one that’s harmful (at least not so far), but it does take up an awful lot of my time. You see, I’m addicted to books. I love the smell of books (especially new ones), the feel of a book in my hand, the crisp crackle of new binding, and, of course, the spiraling text on the page that urges you to read more and more. I was always that kid, staying up past bedtime, hiding under my covers with a flashlight to finish just one more chapter. Growing older, I ditched the flashlight for a virtual spotlight and became an English teacher – a natural progression, I’d say. Teaching gifted me with the ability to share. I could pass on my passion, my joy, my enthusiasm for literature and watch it multiply. Now, I’m a mom, a military wife, and a book fanatic. Yet while I may get too little sleep and occasionally soak a bit too long in the bathtub, my addiction has an upside: I’m passing it on to my daughter, and now, I’m passing it on to you. |
