About me

Gender Female
Location Tokyo, Japan
Introduction I'm a graduate student working in the field of Japanese art history who's never managed to give up my childhood love of classic b-movies, scifi/fantasy pulp novels, or superhero comic books. As an undergraduate, a love of Japanese horror films combined with a class on Japanese art led me to investigate the connections between traditional visual arts and contemporary cultural products, a study that ultimately landed me in a PhD program investigating the sociopolitical implications of horrific and violent imagery in early medieval Japanese handscrolls. I was never able to stop thinking about the superheroes, though.

I've visited numerous parts of the world, including stops in Central America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, and have lived all over the United States (amongst other places). I currently live in Tokyo, Japan where I cultivate a metaphorical love of moonlit walks on the beach and a non-metaphorical love of splatter-gore comedies, ice cold beer, and mismatched socks.

My favorite movies, music, and books change every year to reflect the previous twelve months, though my interests tend to be sadly unvaried.

Interests underdogs, ur mom, being unapologetically nerdy
Favorite Movies Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Fall
Favorite Music The New Division, Henry Jackman, Flume, 2Pac
Favorite Books Loki: Agent of Asgard (Al Ewing), Secret Avengers (Ales Kot)

You can whistle and steam can whistle, so why do you sing in the shower?

Because harmonics are awesome.
