Introduction | I am an Iranian American, residing in the US. I am an activist and a writer. I have translated among others, Marx's 1844 Economic-Philosophic Manuscripts into Farsi. Participated in 1979 Iranian Revolution and helped publish the quarterly Farsi journal, Enghelab va Azadi. I am influenced by the ideas of Hegel, Marx and Raya Dunayevskaya. I am interested in exploring the intellectual roots of the ongoing mass movement in Iran. I am convinced that all liberatory movements contain in-themselves a Historic Reason. If elucidated fully and made explicit to itself through the mediating power of a theory of liberation, it can become an Organizing Idea that can ensures the continuity of emancipatory endeavor. When the gap between revolution and philosophy is as deep as we saw in 1979, there is no escaping the counter-revolutionary consequences. That, above all, is the challenge to all in today’s mass struggles. It is as a modest step towards that goal that I have initiated this blog. I invite you to collaborate with me in a dialogue of ideas. |
