| Introduction | I am a native New Englander. My roots extend to Scotland and Ireland, via Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Fourteen years ago I made South Dakota my home. Exchanging the White and Green Mountains in New Hampshire and Vermont for the Black Hills of South Dakota, I find the similarities in this new country strangely comforting in their familiarity to New England, Nova Scotia and Scotland. The rugged beauty and constantly changing scenery of my new homeland is ever a source of amazement and delight, and the people who I have come to love here– unforgettable! |
