The Hopeful Pessimist

About me

Introduction I am a Catholic and a conservative. I am a scientist by training, but I've tried to give myself some education in philosophy, theology, and even history. I've been blogging since 2005, when I began the Equus Nom Veritas blog, and I created this account because I wanted to keep on blogging, but without having this site attached to my real name. It's just easier if every stupid (or insightful but unpopular) thought that pops into my head and gets blogged about doesn't then show up in searches by my boss, colleagues, etc. I am something of a hopeful pessimist, in that I have hope in heaven but little other than pessimism for what happens here on earth. I fight for the side which in every age is told that it is losing, that it is on the wrong side of history. I do this because I know that history is full of re-writes, and because I know which side ultimately wins the war: but most of all, because I prefer to be on the side of truth.
