| Introduction | Nachman (Norman) Davies was once a Discalced Carmelite monk,then spent decades as a school teacher specialising in Mediaeval/Renaissance music and Javanese Gamelan. In the early years of the twenty-first century he became hard of hearing and is now ninety-five percent deaf. After spending twelve years as a solitary hermit in Andalusia,he made aliyah to Israel and now lives in Safed as a Dedicated Jewish Contemplative. He converted to Reform Judaism in 1992 and completed an Orthodox Conversion ki halachah in July 2016. He is the administrator of the Facebook Page "Jewish Contemplatives-a global community of prayer" and the founder/administrator of a Jewish-Sufi Tariqa (Derech Eliyahu HaNabi) with its own website and Facebook group. |
