Location Ibaraki, Japan
Introduction Since I have been writing a lot recently about Japanese ukulele brands, I think it is best readers have an idea of where I am coming from. I have a Kamaka concert, which is my main uke. To me it is solid and sounds like an acoustic guitar. I can play that when I want to practice and don't care who is listening. The ukulele I used next after that is a KoAloha. In some ways I like it more than the Kamaka. I certainly like how easy it is to play and how light it is. To me, it has an airy Hawaiian sound that goes well with certain songs. If I were playing more Hawaiian music, it would probably be first choice, especially once I get around to changing the strings. My Valley Made is also easy to play and has a Hawaiian sound. I especially like the neck.Very comfortable. And, finally, the Mele soprano. It is good for a 1920s jazzy sound.Unfortunately, I haven't touched it for weeks now.
