Introduction | My latest book is a humorous one - "Animal Tales (Some a little Fishy)." I needed a fun break from the research I was doing for my 2021 book "African Americans in Long Beach and Southern California: A History." It took me 5 years going through recently digitized African American newspapers to get the black perspective on events happening in Southern California, Long Beach and across the United States. For "Animal Tales" I gathered human interest stories from early newspapers which were published in hopes of luring people to explore the wonders Southern California had to offer. Interests | History of all kinds. |
Favorite Movies | Many of my favorite movies are those filmed by Balboa Films, an early Long Beach movie studio, which you can find out more about in the book "Balboa Films, " in which I was a contributor. Many of the studio's pictures were filmed in Seal Beach and Long Beach. |
Favorite Books | Being a librarian I'm exposed to many books, but my favorite genre is historic non-fiction. This and researching newspapers gives me insight into many of the topics I write about. |
