Introduction The artwork and research of the artist focuses on fundamental issues regarding sculpture. Sculpture as construction and aesthetics are considered and related to issues as communication and ethics. Peter’s sculptural practice starts in the contingency of everyday life. While strolling the city, his attention is taken by accidental constructions of trash and waste. Useless, nomadic objects left on sidewalks and in alleys. Material of loss, haphazard constructions of nothing, for nothing. In photographing these non-intentional gatherings of objects, framing them, Peter traces their possible, hidden connections with individual private lives and reveals at the same time their impossible, hidden beauty. Some of this found material is taken to his studio. With that material Peter develops an ongoing flux of possibilities and constructions, installed in various locations by him or others, as such redefining uselessness and loss in an institutional and aesthetic setting. This ongoing flux also implies the return of these objects to the street, to their (non)existence of left over and lost, the re-disappearing in the anonymousness of the city. Re-becoming the unnoticed material of life.
