Introduction	Janet and Chris are a Kiwi and a Brit,who own their own strength and conditioning studio and who happen to be avid cyclists. In 2007 they cycled from Cairo to Cape Town as part of Tour d'Afrique, and in 2008 Janet repeated three sections from Cairo, Egypt to Moyale, Kenya. Africa was unbelievable, breath taking, life changing, an adventure like no other,true cycling nirvana! However, 2009 is not about us. It is about Dedan Ireri, a 28 year old Kenyan above the knee amputee cyclist who we met during Tour d'Afrique 2007. When he rode with us we could not believe the speed he produced with one leg. His bike handling skills were astounding especially when you realised his crutches were attached to the top tube!Needless to say we were impressed by Dedan the cyclist as well as Dedan the humble man and as a gesture of goodwill,decided to sponsor him to the USA to be fitted for a prosthetic leg.18 months of paperwork has finally come to fruition, visas approved, flights arranged and so March 1st Dedan arrives in LAX. He leaves behind his wife and three children and so this blog will allow them to follow his progress while he is in America. Dedan..your new leg awaits you!
