| Introduction | MyKatWalk’s Journey began 4/29/2013. I received a call from the doctor and was told that I have breast cancer. I felt something in my left breast in February. Afraid to have it checked out, I waited. Finally I went for my mammogram, breast exam and an ultra sound. I had not told any of my family members because did not want them to worry. Receiving the call at my desk I thought I could hear the news being delivered to me. Finally I said, wait I will give you a call back. Everything was moving so quickly. I did not have time to process the information that was given to me. Once the conversation had concluded, I cried and began to call family and Friends. May 22, 2013 I began a 12 week chemo treatment with a team of nurses, doctors, family and Friends in my corner. As I am a fly by the seat of my pants type of girl, everything I do has to be carefully orchestrated. No longer can I just leave the house showing my beautiful bald head. I will now have to wear scarves or hats to protect myself from the sun. As I have previously stated I am on my KatWalk through cancer as I will NOT live there. |
